Dale Stephens has returned to training and the midfielder could be involved in the squad, though is unlikely to start.
Goalkeeper Mark Crossley remains the only long-term absentee as he continues to suffer with back problems.
Defender Marcus Williams is Scunthorpe’s main absentee. Williams has suffered a broken toe and will be out for around two months, with Andrew Wright and fit-again Michael Lea set to battle it out for his defensive spot.
Boss Nigel Adkins has an otherwise unchanged squad to pick from given midfielders Matt Sparrow and Sam Togwell both emerged unscathed from the 2-1 win over Leyton Orient.
Togwell, who had been suffering from a thigh injury, will push for a start against the Latics after only making the bench last time out.
Adkins is still hoping to make additions to his squad before Tuesday’s game but will still be without long-term absentees Ben May and Kenny Milne.
Oldham manager John Sheridan is likely to start with Doncaster target Lee Hughes for the trip to League One promotion rivals Scunthorpe.
Championship side Donnie have been chasing Hughes since it emerged that the Latics’ top-scorer could go for only £400,000 due to a clause in his contract.
Sheridan will also be boosted by the return of defender Neil Eardley the match. The 20-year-old defender was forced to miss the Lancashire derby against Stockport through suspension after collecting his fifth booking of the season in the 5-0 defeat at Hereford.
