Fierce East Midlands rivals Derby and Nottingham Forest face an FA Cup fourth-round replay next month after drawing the first of the weekend’s ties 1-1 at Pride Park.
Robert Earnshaw struck against his former club to deny Nigel Clough a first victory as Rams manager, with his goal cancelling out Rob Hulse’s opener for the Rams.
And either side could have gone on to win it, with former Forest midfielder Kris Commons stabbing a half-volley wide with his first touch after coming off the Rams bench while visiting ‘keeper Paul Smith saved well to keep out headers from Hulse and substitute Luke Varney late on.
Forest boss Billy Davies, formerly in charge at Pride Park, was absent as he attended to important family matters.
